Mark Gallyotti: I remember once seeing a photo of a motor torpedo boat in Leucoil, the oil company, Livery. That apparently patrolled areas where Leucoils had, I don't know if it's offshore oil platforms or pipelines. Now obviously today things are much much less wild and woolly. And we're not going to see corporations acquiring military force unless the Kremlin actively wants them to do so. But broadly speaking though if this capacity to insert a whole variety of powerful figures and interests was a strength of early Putinism, I do wonder if it could be in Deucoil and Achilles heel of late Putinism.
