How Did You Become Fascinated by Quantum Gravity?
At 18 you moved to London to study physics at Imperial College. It was during undergraduate studies that you first became fascinated by this subject of quantum gravity. At the time in the late 80s some excitement was beginning to happen in string theory. So I started reading more about that and then trying to figure out where I could do a PhD on it. And that took you to the University of Southampton to work in one of the most exciting areas of quantum gravity string theory.
