The gaze is masculine, and when it looks at women, it wants to dominate, master and control. What i actually think is like when you see a film, you're not trying to control the characters and have mastery. You're actually looking to be completely submitted to it and have no power. And the gaze is actually something in the screen that is looking back at you.
