Coklar implants work pretty well for speech, they don't work nearly as well for music. Music is just a much more complicated kind of sound. You need to distinguish melodies and harmonies and textures. And an implant only has a small number of electrodes. It's hard to use electrical pulses to stimulate the exact part that codes for the right frequency. When you take all this into account, translating with a cokler implant can seem almost impossible.
