How to Survive on Open Source
I totally get that people do open source, not just for the money. I've built a career of open source also by doing a lot of it on the side and not specifically to make money. It's about proving that this is a thing that can be done without taking major pay cuts. If we just rely on them not ever needing to make more money or wanting to make moreMoney then it's not really a sustainable way to guarantee that maintainers can keep doing the thing they we need them to do in the open source ecosystem.
