What's the Difference Between a Novel and a Poem?

The poet was a master of saying the tough truths but saying them eloquently. Like many of her poems look at the life of women, and she wrote a kind of novel or linked poetic sequence of 34 scenes about the life of a girl growing up in Chicago. It's a novel that really, really shows the truth of discrimination and also brings up the truth of colorism as well. And so it looks at some of the complexities and some of the politics of color and gender within the black community within the African American community at that time.
