In 16 88, a priest in edinburgh starts trying to use the english book of common prayer. A lady throws her stool at him, and this starts a riot,. which in turn balloons into a rebellion and a war. This ended up touching off a massive civil war in england and scotland. There was animosity between lowlands that want to join more closely to england, and highlands that are suspicious. And they wanted to maintain their gaelic, catholic way of life.
