Affections Are the Feet of the Soul

If your affections are meek, your judgment will be so too. We must always do like that, Philothea, ever judging as much as possible in favor of our neighbor. If one action may well have a hundred possible faces, then we should always look upon its fairest one. A just man can no longer excuse either the action or the intention of a person whom otherwise he sees to be virtuous,. nonetheless he will not judge him but rather puts it out of his mind and leaves the judgment of it to God.
