The suspected crime of overseeing the abduction of Ukrainian children has earned Vladimir Putin and Maria Levova-Belova, a place in a rogue's gallery of alleged war criminals. It took the court nearly ten years to get its first conviction. Many ICC cases have focused on African states prompting criticism of disproportionality. Libya's former leader, Momo Gaddafi was charged with crimes against humanity in 2011. But he was brutally killed by a Libyan mob before he could be brought to justice.
