The Psychological Factor in Ukraine
The psychological factor that Hamish talks about it holds absolutely true in Ukraine today as it did in the first world war. There was always a sense we're not going to be saying in these lines for long and that almost certainly was a factor behind the trenches not being dug as as deep then as effectively. The UK is hosting a gathering of 60 nations here in London to discuss just this but I think it would be foolish to expect Russia to agree to compensate them for the enormous damage that they've done so it would probably fall to rest of the world to step in at least initially, says Charlie Serakold.
