The Effects of 30,000 Changes on Brain Development
There are very few people who don't carry these changes. So it's quite challenging to find out what they really cause because we can't easily as compare people with and without those changes. One other change in an enzyme, TKTL1, for example, in the ancestral state results in fewer neurons being born. But again, there's a change that we now can study because they happen very early in brain developmentThat you can model in the laboratory in tissue capture. It's unclear what consequences those would have in the adult individuals.
