How does one cultivate a social solidarity so that it can be sustainable and not simply be swallowed up by the market machine? That's a great question because there are a few different strategies historically. One is a kind of political strategy, a kind of partisan strategy, a populist strategy. The other is this kind of quiet consensus approach, which is drawing on the shared mythologies of the country.
