How to Improve Focus Mode on Mac OS

I would love to see the Mac get more contextual indicators of your focus mode than a little icon in the menu bar. And like having custom wallpaper, that'd be awesome if we could do that. I feel like as far as OS improvements go, some triggers from shortcuts on Mac OS would not go amiss.
