The Challenges of Governing San Francisco
The city and its various layers of bureaucracy make it very challenging to govern San Francisco like a CEO would manage a company. I can't even fire and hire my department heads, the police chief and other departments. But I'm being held accountable for everything that all of these departments are doing. And so I think that as a mayor, whether it's me or anyone else who's mayor of this amazing city, the mayor needs to have the ability to be an executive"
