The Warlords of the Makle

In the northwest, parents had to hide their sons from fear of tem getting conscripted into one of their armies. They taxed anything that moved, and even things that didn't move. In this respect, they were no worse than their fellow warlords to the east. Only the ha opted to hang in there and remain part of the new republic. And it was the ma kli who carried water for their allies in eastern china, and later on, for tankai shek.
