There has been a dedicated effort to tell stories where the use of biometric scanning was used by oppressors. Current governments are the arbiters of who a person is in many but not all governmental systems. We have a good track record of corporations and similar positions offering no effective recourse to their customers when they are deplatformed. World coin would be in a position to deplatform someone from the literal claim on being a human. dystopian isn't a feeling in a situation like that.
