The Importance of Empathy in STEM

The first thing is to be made aware. But before that, you have to critically reflect on your own social positionality and your own understandings. One piece of advice I have for faculty is to find critical mass in their departments. And then teaching science for social justice, for me, it's really important. It's something that I'm working on right now with some colleagues.
