The Trauma of a Trans Male Identity
Kai's was a conservative community where her masculinity and visible queerness made her an outsider. She didn't have any queer trans role models around. When she was 15, she learned what trans men and butch lesbians were. For the rest of her teenage years into early adulthood, Kai continued to move further and further into her trans masculine identity. However, at 21, Kai experienced a major shock, her mom died.
