The Importance of Being Happy

Ahd Kamel is a Saudi actress and filmmaker. She’s known for her roles in the BAFTA-nominated film, Wadjda (2014) and BBC2/Netflix’s Collateral (2018). She’s also written and directed two award-winning short films, “The Shoemaker“ and Sanctity” (now playing on Netflix in MENA). She recently appeared in Amazon’s “All the Old Knives” and on Hulu’s season 3 of Ramy. Today, Ahd is back in the director’s chair as she shoots her feature film ‘My Driver & I.’ Nostalgically set in Jeddah in the 80s and 90s, it’s a heartfelt coming of age story about a young girl and her lifelong bond with her Sudanese driver.
