The Evolution of the Prison System in Spain
The composition of the prison population and its size in Spain changed dramatically after the Civil War. A black market economy flourished in post-war space, with many Spaniards having no choice but to take the law into their own hands if they wanted to survive. In 1959, the Franco regime abandoned Zortaki, and it adopts what is called the Stabilization Plan,. And this opens up Spain to the free market and foreign investment and commerce. What we see in Spain from like 50, 90, 59 almost is a very early form of neoliberal development. It's still an incredibly violent and difficult situation for those that are kind of constituted defeated sectors in Spain.
