Orpheus's Love Promise Was Forever
Kippurisis pierced the stag with a javelin and when Orpheus saw his loved stag dying from the cruel wound he could not bear it. Seven days he sat upon death's riverbank in squalid misery and without all food, complaining that the gods of Arabas were pitiless. At last he wandered back until he came to lofty Rodope and Highness, beaten by the strong north wind. The god groaning with sorrow said, You shall be mourned sincerely by me as you mourn for others and forever you will stand in grief. Such was the grove where Orpheus stood surrounded by animals and many strange birds. He sang: Oh Jove inspired my song
