The Singing of the Palma-Toons
The Palma-toons themselves know best the natural settings for their songs. The weird blending of harmonics was unlike anything I had ever heard before. On nearly every island there is now a church, either Protestant or Catholic. In the Protestant ones, the native population practiced the only true faith to the accompaniment of this old barbaric music. Those unsightly little structures rock to the sound of exultant choruses which ought never to be sung within doors.
