The Sum Score Is Wrong, but You Always Know How It's Worse
When you build in diff, there are going to be downstream influences that bias the use of those scores and other analyses. I have a love-hate relationship with these at the scoring level as I drank the Kool-Aid on the M&LFA scores. But we're always doing some kind of data-based assessment of where is the diff. And yet this gives us a tool to look at the characteristics of the data in a way that we didn't have before.
