The Importance of Intelligence in Maze Solving

The robot didn't solve the maze. It's just doing a series of actions. Is learning and memory intelligence or is there more to intelligence and maze solving that then memory and learn? I think solving something I would say has intent. That's such a good thing. But you, you know, you can argue that the design of the robot did have the intent of figuring out the maze.
