Prisoners in Solitary Condtion
Solitary confinement is universally recognized as a means of torture. In some prisons, prisoners were not being put in solitary any more because the jail was aware that they are not meant to be placed there. Some prisons continue that practice, and it's extremely, extremely debilitating. One prisoner who has now spent more than 14 years in solitary confinement. He is staying alone, with no interaction with any one else. What is that doing to that prisoner's mental health? We also know that the prisoner started having psychotic episodes in solitary. And once you are in solitary, you get maybe two hours or three hours out of that cell. It's the whole day you have to spend inside that alone,.
