CHAPTER

The Power of Student Confidence

Students tend to overestimate in maths and feel more confident than their actual answers suggest that they are. Janet Butterfield's work suggests that the hyper correction effect which is a fascinating finding suggests that the higher the confidence, the higher the correct answer. If you give your kids some 10 questions to work through just before you go through the answers just say just indicate how confident you feel about each of those answers scale a one to five smiley face whatever anything like that. Do it with homework so before you hand your homework in just next to each question just put how confident you do it with test papersWhatever now why on earth would you do this well?
