Germany Closes Its Last Nuclear Power Plant

In 2010, Germany's energy mix included 23% nuclear power. In 2000, there was a coalition between the Green Party and the Democratic Party that decided they were going to phase out nuclear power in Germany by 2022. But then when Andrea Merkel's party came to power, they said, you know what? We're going to delay this until 2034 so we can build out our renewable energy infrastructure. They reversed their decision after the Fukushima accident happened.
