History, Neutrality and Apolitical Teachings of History
There is this myth out there that historians and by extensions history itself must be apolitical. The ideal history teacher we were told is one where the students have no idea what their politics are. Marxist historiography basically centers the mode of production as the main analytical tool. This approaches to history have been quite influential and have shaped a lot of our current understanding of the past.
