The Paradox of Being an MP
By 1923 she had become a Labour MP. How did she make that leap so quickly and so young? She had the support of the trade unions, which was really significant. I don't think she would have got anywhere without the support of her trade union. What do you think the response was to this tiny young woman from Manchester entering the House of Commons? Even when I entered the House of Parliament, it would have caused a stir.
