The Error in the 1619 Project

Cotton was 5% of GDP, but the GDP was just a lot of home production. If 95% of all output of finished goods is coming from other things, we've already built into the calculation these intermediate steps. That's the error that's made by these new historians of capitalism. They only want to look at intermediate steps of production when it's tied to cotton and slavery. What was bigger than cotton? What's bigger? It would depend on the year.
