Did the Tutors Celebrate Birthdays?
In the literate, wealthier ends of society, birthdays are recorded. This is actually something that goes back to at least for those in century. I'm pretty sure that adolescents would have been aware of the passing of time. Whether they celebrated birthdays, I really don't know. And then I think it can often be rather more hits and miss that a child will have been told that she or he was born not at Easter or on Midsummer Day.
