The Swiss government helped broker a deal for another Swiss bank UBS to come in and rescue this bank. Credit Suisse is one of the largest firms in the world. It was actually defined as systemic by international financial regulators such that if any of the banks on that list like Credit Suisse were to go under, it could create a global financial crisis.
