Calvin had a very high view of the church. Whoever must call god his father, must have the church as his mother. Calvin can't conceive of a christian outside the church. I think we have to hear that in our moment of individualis and sometimes the hyper evangelicalism. We are saved as part of the bodyy of christ. And so we are saved into the church. That is what the church is commissioned to do, and that's what it should do.
