What if I Had My Kids Walk Around New York City?

Middle school students were asked to walk around New York City for extra credit. They did it on foot, not using the trains or buses; they explored museums and police stations. The project became a huge success in his classes: test scores went up as kids learned real skills. He realized that doing useful projects was a much better way to teach and learn.
