The Importance of Disfluency

I think disfluency is very important. I remember in Australia when I was studying law, I met a lot of high court judges who were well into their 90s because they've continued to engage in topics and types of thinking that required a lot of effort. We do very little arithmetic now, we pick up our iPhones, we hit the calculator button and we do that instantly without having to think about it. That's another muscle, cognitive muscle that's withering a little bit. There are kids now who are being born who may never ever get to exercise those muscles.
