Nostalgic Memories

We tend to discount and incorrectly remember, research pretty clearly shows. So when we are being nostalgic, we're often getting those memories wrong. The emotional footprints of positive experiences tend to fade more slowly than those of negative ones. This is adaptive for us as a species, like a psychological immune system to protect us when things are bad.
