The only solace you can take is that it hasn't completely broken down just mostly. Like you, you do not want to be in a position where you think for even a minute that the reason your kids are there is to make sure that they stay in the will. That's just the vestiges of patriarchy. It doesn't matter how rich you are or powerful you are important you are. You're going to have to make decisions that affect what you do now.
