The triad of orthodoxy, autocracy and nationality became the ruling ideology for the rest of the century. Official nationality tended to exalt an idealized russian peasant as the simple, good and loyal foundation of society. The educational policy was to educate the peasants in order to keep them pure and unspoiled by the atheistic and egotistical heresies coming out of the west.
