And you know, all those things like protest and that deeper organizing inspires student struggles beyond the southern, southern movement,. You see it in groups like the students for democratic society, the northern student movement, et cetera. The lowns county organization is also the origin of the black panther symbol, because they choose that symbol, yes? In the summer of 1964, about a thousand young Americans, black and white, came together in Mississippi to place themselves in the path of white supremacist power and violence. They issued a bold pro-democracy challenge to the nation and the Democratic Party.
