CHAPTER

The Two Kinds of Aggression in Animals

There are two kinds of aggression in animals, and humans are no exception. The one we first talked about is a premeditated form of aggression which is not necessarily involved in the emotions very strongly at all. And then the other kind of aggression was called proactive, premeditated, predatory. It's when you, as a man, come into your home bedroom and find another man embedded with your wife, and you just lose it. This is impulsive, it's defensive,. You just lash out, and you are very emotionally aroused. We became much less reactive in our aggressive tendencies around 300,000 years ago.
