The Role of Protons and Neutrons in Atomic Chemistry

The nuclei of atoms can have protons and neutrons. Proton determine what element is, while neutron determines the isotope that's in it. Different isotopes of an element have same chemical properties but different nuclear properties. Uranium 235 could break down into two lighter elements if a neutron was thrown at it.
