Do people with a spiritual or religious practice tend to have an easier adaptation process than those who don't? One of my personal theories, and this is a whole different conversation, is that a big reason that we came up with religion in the first place is to deal with the fear of death. If we believe that we're being punished through this death, that can be very difficult for people to overcome. Or if it causes them to lose their faith in a way that they're not expecting and not accustomed to sort of having doubts then that can be problematic for people.
