The Risk of Atrial Esophageal Fistula

If atrial esophageal fistula is a minimally, modifiable probabilistic event and you do enough procedures it will likely come to you. The regret principle is one of the main reasons I am conservative with AF ablation. In the event of a serious complication, well I have looked back and felt regret that this patient could have been managed conservatively. Instead of trying to better understand the pathophysiology of AF, the EP community seems focused on making AF ablation faster so we can do more of these lucrative procedures.
