In the 70s and 80s, there were sort of not too subtle attempts to keep Valley of Burton Alley from falling in with these young Evangelizing Christians who give up flowers. The way Hollywood sort of conveyed that these people were scary was by how nice they were, right? They were just too nice. And which appealed to someone growing up as a New York City kid is like super niceness is to be distrusted.
