In a small universe the CMB is 2.7 degrees, and in a large universe it's usually 3.1. But both are large enough that there would be pockets of different temperatures. So I'm suggesting we can judge theories on the basis of whether or not they predict any observers that would see exactly that already. That seems to be the least presumptuous thing I can do.
