It's kind of amazing how much water is mixed in and locked away as long as it gets protected from that sunlight, then it's here to stay. And our solar system likes to surprise us by doing things that we didn't used to think were possible. The key is the places that have these have no atmosphere. Venus does not have ice in permanently shadowed regions because atmospheres are insulating,. but get rid of an atmosphere and amazing things happen.
