The Order of Generation Between Love, Desire, and Pleasure
Love is the inclination to motion of the sense appetite toward a sensibly pleasant thing. Desire moves us to seek after the good we do not yet possess. Eraspal passions concern the difficult, or arduous good, or evil. For Aquinas, evil is parasitic on good, and so what we find painful depends on what we find pleasant.
