i like to spoil the idea of being a cheerful pessimist. I think there is, you can have these, what you could call paradoxical positions on issues. You may encounter moments of pure ecstasy as you realize that there are some very fine things in a world which is otherwise very dark. i don't think a back drop of stark realism, slash pessimism about all sorts of things should be your default setting.
