John Lachland was born on Christmas Eve 1166. He grew up partly in England, spending a bit of his childhood in Henry's household. We don't know loads about what John was like as a kid. But there is one story I think is worth repeating - even though the source is shady. It comes from a famous medieval outlaw story based very loosely on a real-life nobleman turned Robin Hood type called Folk Fits Warren. According to this tale, before Folk was an outlaw, he was a childhood companion of John's in the Royal Nursery.
