The Importance of Mentoring in Higher Education
Mentoring is obviously featured very prominently in your own academic work and your philosophy. Were there particular key mentors who sort of put that bug in your ear about being a university president that helped you along the way for that? I would say there were a couple, certainly at my undergraduate institution, one of whom was a very influential professor of American literature; he really took interest in me as a writer.
